Five hundred candidates are selected to join the Department of Lerian Sciences, but only three hundred come out alive. When Thea and Edmon wake, they are different; they’re dangerous. "Inspiring! The tale, set in the distant future, portrays an environment of high technology and desperate poverty. In this potentially depressing landscape, Althea (Thea) and Edmond (Ed) become beacons of hope, friendship, strength, and survival. Morgan Moeller has artfully woven despair and hope into an interesting and inspiring book. A perfect read for these pandemic times." - Claudia (Amazon Customer) 5 Stars

"Highly Recommend - Immersive Story! Set in the future, with class conflicts, struggles and danger, From A.S.H.E.S We Rise was such a fun read. Characters are easy to relate to and unexpected surprises every so often that kept me turning pages. I enjoy the writer's style because it makes it easy to grasp character backstories, their thoughts and motivations. It reminds me of Lee Child, who writes Jack Reacher and that's a good thing! - Richard Weeks (Amazon Customer) 5 Stars
Excerpt: Truth - Thea
I take a deep breath and start thinking. Rowe said my name in the audio along with all the others, her voice is probably being transmitted to my entire team. I see everyone's faces on the screen, just as panicked as I am. Edmond's face is bone pale, looking as sick as I feel. He doesn't want this. He told me that he wanted to be an architect. That job hasn't existed since the walls were built. The same building plans are replicated over and over. He wanted to change that. To make something new.
A static voice fills the room. I don't even hear what it says, my thoughts are a racing mess. Come on! Think, Thea!
A prong comes out of the metal walls, peeling off from the screens. I act on instinct, trying to maneuver away from the needle. It's no use. The prong turns and angles toward me even as I continue to duck and slide out of its grasp.
Just like running from faction guards, I tell myself, although in this tight space, it's anything but. Metal straps peel off the wall like river vines, pinning my arms to the screen. I kick and thrash but the bands wrap around my middle, keeping me still. The needle reels back like a single-fanged snake ready to strike. I pull at the restraints but they have no give. When the needle presses into my arm, my vision instantly begins to blur. My attempts to fight turn sluggish.
The last sound I hear is Ed, "Thea, if you can hear me, just know I love you. It's going to be o-" The voice cuts out with a thud. The screen shows him out cold. I can barely call his name as energy abandons me. My arms go limp and the restraints loosen.
My head becomes a blur of tangled knots and the world goes black.
